Exploring Panama: Where to Go During Your Dental Journey
One of the things I enjoy the most outside dentistry is exploring Panama.
From quiet beach towns to mountain escapes, this country has so much to offer — and many of my patients ask me the same question:
👉 “If I’m coming for treatment… where should I go?”
So I decided to put together a few of my personal recommendations — places I genuinely enjoy and often share with my patients.
You can also find some of these on my Instagram, where I share spots, stays, and weekend escapes.
1. Taboga Island: The Perfect Quick Escape
If you’re staying in Panama City, Taboga Island is one of the easiest and most relaxing getaways.
Just a short ferry ride away, it’s ideal for:
• A calm beach day
• Light walking and sightseeing
• Disconnecting after an appointment
👉 Tip: Stay overnight if you can in my family cabin — it’s much quieter after day visitors leave.
2. Casco Viejo: Culture, Food, and Atmosphere
Casco Viejo is where I usually recommend patients go if they want something:
• Walkable
• Safe
• Full of character
It’s a mix of:
• History
• Restaurants
• Rooftops
• Small cafés
Perfect for evenings after your appointments.
3. Boquete: Mountains, Coffee & Fresh Air
If your schedule allows for a few extra days, Boquete is one of my favorite places in Panama.
• Cooler weather
• Beautiful landscapes
• Coffee farms
• Hiking trails
It’s a great place to relax after treatment and reset a bit.
4. Pedasí & Playa Venao: Laid-Back Beach Vibe
For a more relaxed coastal experience, I recommend:
• Pedasí (quiet, local feel)
• Playa Venao (more vibrant, surf + restaurants)
These are great if you want:
• Space
• Slower pace
• A mix of nature and comfort
5. Boca Chica: Hidden Gem
This is one of Panama’s less talked-about destinations — and that’s exactly why it’s special.
Located in Chiriquí, Boca Chica offers:
• Island hopping
• Crystal-clear water
• Very few crowds
Perfect if you’re looking for something more exclusive and calm.
6. Volcán & Mount Totumas: Nature & Birdwatching
If you’re into nature or just want something completely different:
• Volcán
• Mount Totumas
This area is known for:
• Birdwatching
• Forest hikes
• Quiet, remote stays
It’s a unique experience compared to the typical beach destinations.
7. Torio: Raw and Untouched Panama
Torio is for people who want:
• Minimal crowds
• Raw landscapes
• A more “off-the-grid” feel
It’s not for everyone — but if you enjoy nature and solitude, it’s worth it.

A Different Way to Experience Your Treatment
Many of my patients come for dental treatments like veneers or implants — but end up turning their visit into something more.
👉 A reset
👉 A break
👉 A small personal trip
Panama allows you to do both:
• Take care of your smile
• Enjoy a different kind of experience
