Sometimes, transforming a smile isn't about treating every tooth. It's about identifying the details that make the greatest difference. When I first evaluated this patient's smile, one thing immediately caught my attention: a dark outline around an existing metal-ceramic crown on one of his upper front teeth. His naturally small teeth also created visible spaces, making his smile appear less balanced.Rather than recommending a complete set of veneers, we developed a personalized treatment plan that addressed these specific concerns with one new ceramic crown and five porcelain veneers.Six restorations were enough to transform his smile.
Do gaps between teeth always require braces?
Not necessarily.Spaces between teeth can have different causes. Sometimes they are related to tooth position or bite alignment. In other cases, the teeth are naturally small in proportion to the available space. When spacing is primarily related to tooth size, carefully planned veneers or composite bonding may help improve proportions and close the gaps. However, when tooth position or bite alignment is the underlying concern, orthodontic treatment may be the more appropriate option. For this patient, we were able to address the spacing through restorative treatment while also replacing the existing crown.

Smile Makeover in Panama: 5 Veneers & 1 Ceramic Crown

Why did we combine a crown with five veneers?
Different teeth have different needs. The existing metal-ceramic crown had a dark outline that affected the overall appearance of the patient's smile. Replacing it allowed us to improve how that tooth integrated with the surrounding teeth. The five porcelain veneers helped us adjust the shape, proportions, and color of the neighboring teeth. The challenge was making all six restorations look like they belonged together, despite using two different types of restorations. The goal wasn't to make every tooth identical. It was to create a natural, balanced smile.
Can six restorations really transform an entire smile?
In this case, yes.By replacing the existing crown and placing five veneers, we improved the proportions of the upper front teeth, closed the visible spaces, and created a more consistent appearance. The dark outline that previously drew attention was no longer the defining feature of his smile. What I appreciate most about this transformation is that we achieved a significant aesthetic change without automatically extending treatment to additional teeth.Sometimes, the difference comes from treating the right teeth—not more teeth.

Before

After

How many veneers do you actually need?
There is no universal number. Some patients may benefit from two or four veneers. Others may require six, eight, or more, depending on their clinical condition and aesthetic goals. Before recommending treatment, I consider the shape and position of the teeth, the patient's bite, the number of teeth visible when smiling, and the condition of any existing restorations.I also evaluate whether certain changes could be achieved through more conservative alternatives, such as bonding, whitening, or orthodontics.A smile makeover should never automatically mean placing 10 or 20 veneers.Every restoration should have a reason to be there.
My approach to personalized smile design
I often think of ceramic veneers as fine jewelry. Each piece is individually crafted, carefully fitted, and designed to complement the person wearing it.But the value isn't simply in the material or how many restorations we place. It's in the details: how the teeth relate to one another, how they complement the patient's face, and how naturally everything comes together. For this patient, six carefully planned restorations made the difference. And that's what personalized smile design means to me.
Considering veneers or a smile makeover in Panama?
Whether you're living in Panama or planning to travel here for dental treatment, the first step is understanding what your smile actually needs.During a personalized online evaluation, I can review your photographs, existing restorations, and treatment goals to discuss potential options before planning your treatment.Book Your Online Evaluation — $65Dr. Gianna Hanly | MaDenta Clínica Dental | Panama City, Panama

A Smile Transformation with Just Six Restorations: Veneers & Crowns in Panama

Sometimes, transforming a smile isn't about starting from scratch. It's about improving dental restorations that no longer meet a patient's needs. This patient came to me with existing composite veneers that required frequent polishing and maintenance. He was also experiencing recurring gum inflammation, and he felt that the color of his veneers didn't give his smile the brightness he wanted. His goal was simple: a brighter, more balanced smile that still looked natural. After evaluating his existing restorations, gum condition, and aesthetic goals, we decided to replace his composite veneers with IPS e.max ceramic veneers. The transformation was completed in seven days.

Why replace composite veneers with E.max?
Composite resin veneers can be an excellent conservative treatment, especially when we want to make small changes while preserving natural tooth structure. However, composite restorations may gradually lose their surface polish, develop discoloration, or require repairs and maintenance. That doesn't mean every composite veneer should eventually be replaced with ceramic. In many cases, polishing or repairing the existing restorations may be the better option. For this patient, we considered the condition of his veneers, the maintenance they required, his gum health, and the aesthetic changes he wanted to achieve.E.max veneers offered an appropriate option for creating a more consistent shape, color, and surface finish.
Can old veneers affect gum health?
The relationship between dental restorations and gum health is something I always evaluate.Poorly contoured restorations, rough surfaces, or margins that make cleaning difficult can contribute to plaque accumulation and gum irritation. However, gum inflammation can have several causes, and replacing veneers alone does not necessarily resolve it.Before planning this patient's new restorations, it was important to assess his gums and the condition of the teeth beneath the existing composite veneers. My priority was not simply to improve the appearance of his smile, but to consider the health of the surrounding tissues as part of the treatment.

Does a brighter smile have to look unnaturally white?
Not at all.One of the most important decisions in smile design is choosing a color that complements the patient's features. In this case, the original veneers had a shade that didn't provide the contrast or brightness the patient wanted. We selected a brighter ceramic shade that complemented his complexion while maintaining a natural appearance. The objective wasn't to create an exaggerated white smile or make his teeth look artificial. It was to give his smile more brightness and definition while keeping it harmonious with his face. That's what personalized smile design means to me: understanding the person before choosing the teeth.
How long does it take to replace composite veneers with E.max?
For this patient, we completed the transformation in seven days. The process involved evaluating the existing restorations, planning the new smile, preparing the teeth as clinically necessary, and fabricating and bonding the final ceramic veneers. The exact treatment sequence depends on each case. Some patients may require additional appointments, particularly when gum inflammation, tooth decay, bite problems, or other conditions need to be addressed before the final restorations are placed. For patients traveling to Panama, an initial evaluation can help establish a preliminary timeline before arranging their visit.Seven days was this patient's treatment timeline, not a guaranteed timeframe for every veneer case.
<img id="f14w55sevmv5o3x8m" src="https://cdn.durable.co/covers/6qzCiffwkA71NhRU8OXQJJJl2WzFShc87Tq2mKCSP4bk1M5iYiMyfx9eZjYAFe2a.jpg" alt="Prepped Teeth - Original Smile - Gianna Dentist" title="Prepped Teeth - Original Smile - Gianna Dentist" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; From Composite to E.max Veneers: A Smile Transformation in 7 Days

Over the years, many patients receive dental treatments one tooth at a time. A crown here, a filling there, perhaps another crown several years later.Eventually, their smile may become a combination of restorations completed at different times, using different materials, and sometimes by different dentists. The teeth may no longer match in color, shape, or proportions. In other cases, patients experience worn teeth, difficulty chewing, or restorations that are beginning to fail. This is where full mouth restoration, also known as full mouth rehabilitation, can make a difference. The objective isn't simply to make every tooth look the same. It's to evaluate how your teeth work together and develop a personalized plan that restores function, health, and aesthetics while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.

What is full mouth restoration?
Full mouth restoration is a comprehensive approach to treating multiple dental problems through a coordinated treatment plan.Depending on the patient's needs, treatment may involve:

Ceramic veneers: To improve the shape, proportions, or appearance of suitable teeth.

Dental crowns: To restore teeth that require more extensive structural protection.

Onlays or partial restorations: To restore damaged areas while preserving more natural tooth structure when appropriate.

Dental implants: To replace missing teeth or teeth that cannot predictably be saved.

Composite bonding: To make smaller corrections or restore selected areas conservatively.

Not every patient needs all these treatments. In fact, one of the most important parts of my work is determining which teeth actually need treatment and which can be preserved as they are.
How do I know if I need full mouth rehabilitation?
Patients considering full mouth rehabilitation often have several concerns happening at the same time. You may have multiple crowns placed over the years that no longer look consistent. Perhaps some teeth are worn down, fractured, or heavily restored.Other patients experience dental erosion, damage associated with teeth grinding, or problems with their bite.Sometimes, the main concern is aesthetic. A patient may feel that their smile looks uneven because different restorations have changed color or no longer match their natural teeth. However, having different crowns or an uneven smile does not automatically mean you need a full mouth restoration.I evaluate each tooth individually before determining whether a comprehensive treatment plan is necessary.

Do I need veneers or crowns?
This is one of the most important decisions in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.Ceramic veneers generally cover the front surface of a tooth. They can be an excellent option when we want to improve color, shape, or proportions while preserving healthy tooth structure.Dental crowns cover a tooth more extensively and may be recommended when it has significant structural damage or requires greater protection. But there is no reason to recommend crowns for every tooth simply because we are planning a complete smile transformation. For example, a patient may need crowns on several weakened teeth, veneers on others, and only minor adjustments to the remaining teeth. The goal is to select the most appropriate treatment for each tooth while creating a result that looks and functions naturally as a whole.
Does full mouth restoration require dental implants?
No. Full mouth restoration does not necessarily involve dental implants. Many patients can complete their rehabilitation while keeping their natural teeth.Implants become an option when teeth are missing or cannot be predictably restored.I believe preserving natural teeth should always be a priority when they can be maintained in good health and function.Dental implants are an excellent treatment when properly indicated, but they should not be used as a reason to remove teeth that can still be saved.
What if I already have several crowns?
This is something I frequently consider when evaluating comprehensive rehabilitation cases.Crowns placed at different times may have different shapes, colors, materials, or levels of wear. But that doesn't mean they all need to be replaced. Some existing crowns may still be functioning perfectly well.Others may require replacement because of decay, fractures, poor fit, or other clinical concerns.During the evaluation, we determine which restorations can remain and which should be addressed.Replacing a crown is not automatically better than preserving one that is still healthy and functional.

What if I grind my teeth?
Bruxism, or teeth grinding and clenching, is an important consideration in full mouth rehabilitation.Over time, grinding can contribute to worn teeth, fractures, and damage to existing restorations. When planning a rehabilitation, I evaluate how the teeth come together, the condition of the remaining tooth structure, and factors that may affect the longevity of the restorations.Depending on the case, treatment may include a custom nightguard and ongoing monitoring. It's important to understand that new veneers or crowns do not cure bruxism. Protecting the restorations after treatment is part of maintaining the results.
Why does choosing the right dentist matter?
Full mouth rehabilitation requires more than selecting the right ceramic material or creating a beautiful smile. It involves understanding how the teeth, bite, and existing restorations function together. One of my priorities is explaining why I recommend a particular treatment for each tooth. Before beginning a comprehensive rehabilitation, I believe patients should understand:

Which teeth actually need treatment?

Can existing crowns or restorations be preserved?

Are there more conservative alternatives?

How much healthy tooth structure would need to be removed?

How will the proposed restorations function together?

What maintenance will be necessary over time?

These questions matter because preparing a tooth for a crown or veneer can involve irreversible changes.A comprehensive treatment plan should never mean performing more procedures than the patient actually needs.
What should I expect from a full mouth restoration consultation?
The first step is understanding your current dental condition and what you would like to improve.I begin by reviewing your concerns, dental history, existing restorations, and treatment goals.A comprehensive clinical evaluation may include photographs, digital scans, X-rays, and an assessment of your bite and overall oral health. From there, we can determine which teeth need treatment, which can remain untouched, and how the different restorations should work together. For patients traveling to Panama, an initial online evaluation can help us discuss your concerns, review available information, and explore possible treatment options before your visit. However, a definitive treatment plan requires an appropriate in-person clinical examination and any necessary diagnostic records.
My approach to full mouth restoration
When I plan a full mouth rehabilitation, I don't begin by deciding how many veneers or crowns a patient should receive.I begin by understanding what each tooth needs and how we can achieve a healthy, functional, and natural-looking result.Sometimes that means combining several types of restorations. Other times, it means preserving existing dental work and treating only the areas that truly require attention. The best rehabilitation isn't necessarily the one that involves the most procedures. It's the one that achieves the patient's goals while preserving as much healthy natural tooth structure as possible.

Considering full mouth restoration in Panama?
Whether you live in Panama or are considering traveling here for dental treatment, we can begin by discussing your concerns and understanding what your smile may need.During a personalized online evaluation, I can review your goals, photographs, and available X-rays and discuss possible treatment options and next steps.Book Your Online Evaluation — $65Dr. Gianna Hanly | MaDenta Clínica Dental | Panama City, Panama

Full Mouth Restoration in Panama: Do You Need Veneers, Crowns, or Implants?

Macro close-up of dental crown restoration showing precise aesthetic and technical craftsmanship details

Considering dental veneers can be exciting, but it is normal to have questions when you don't know exactly what will happen at each appointment.

Will you leave with temporary teeth?

Can you eat normally?

What happens if you're having both upper and lower veneers?

How long will you wear temporaries?

And what if your treatment also includes a dental bridge?

These are real questions patients ask me before starting treatment. Below, I'll walk you through the process so you know what to expect before making a decision.
What is the dental veneers process?
Although every treatment plan is personalized, my veneer cases generally follow four stages:

Smile planning and evaluation

Tooth preparation and temporary veneers

Fabrication of the final ceramic veneers

Final placement and follow-up

The exact number and sequence of appointments depend on how many teeth we are treating, whether we are working on the upper teeth, lower teeth, or both, and whether your case includes other restorations such as crowns or bridges.
Will I see what my new smile may look like before treatment begins?
Depending on your case, we can use photographs, digital scans, digital smile design, and physical models to plan your smile. We can also create a mock-up, which provides a preview of the proposed shape, length, and proportions directly over your teeth.A mock-up or digital design is a planning tool rather than a guarantee of the exact final result. All. corrections can be done over the Mock-up so we have a clear view of our final objectives. Your ceramic veneers are individually fabricated, and small adjustments may be necessary to achieve the appropriate fit, function, symmetry, and natural appearance.
Are all the teeth prepared during the same appointment?
That depends on your treatment. If we are treating only the upper teeth, preparation and placement of the temporary veneers can often be completed during one appointment. If we are restoring both the upper and lower teeth, I often prefer to divide the preparation into separate appointments. Comprehensive veneer treatment requires considerable precision, and extremely long appointments can become tiring for both the patient and dentist. For example, your treatment might include:

Appointment 1: Upper tooth preparation and upper temporary veneers

Appointment 2: Lower tooth preparation and lower temporary veneers

Approximately 7–14 days later: Final ceramic restoration placement

Follow-up: Evaluation of your bite, comfort, gums, night guard delivery and any necessary adjustments

Another possibility is to complete the upper veneers before beginning treatment on the lower teeth. There is no single sequence that is best for every patient. We decide based on your clinical needs, comfort, treatment complexity, and, particularly for patients traveling to Panama, your available time.
Will I leave the dental office with teeth?
Yes. You will not leave the office with visibly prepared teeth.Temporary veneers are placed during the same treatment phase in which your teeth are prepared. If your case includes a dental bridge, we can generally provide a temporary restoration while the final bridge is being fabricated.Temporary restorations serve several purposes. They protect the prepared teeth, allow you to function during the laboratory period, and give you an initial sense of the shape and proportions of your future smile. They also provide useful clinical information. While wearing them, you can tell me how your smile feels when you speak, smile, and eat before we complete the final ceramic restorations.
How long do temporary veneers stay on?
Your temporary veneers remain in place while the dental laboratory fabricates your final ceramic restorations. This period is approximately 7–14 days, although laboratory time varies depending on the number and complexity of the restorations.Temporaries are designed for this transitional period and are not as strong as the final ceramic veneers. Occasionally, one may loosen or fracture. If that happens, don't try to glue it back yourself. Contact the clinic so we can evaluate it and determine whether it needs to be reattached or replaced.
Can I eat normally with temporary veneers?
Yes, but temporary veneers require some care.A simple rule I give patients is to choose foods that can easily be cut into smaller pieces rather than biting directly into hard foods with the temporary restorations. For example:

Steak is generally manageable when cut into smaller pieces.

Slice an apple instead of biting directly into it.

Avoid nuts, ice, hard candy, and very hard or sticky foods.

Avoid biting directly into hard or crusty foods with the temporaries.

Never use your teeth to open packages or bite non-food objects.

You should still be able to eat comfortably; you simply need to be cautious with the temporary restorations until the final ceramics are ready.
What if I have temporary veneers on both my upper and lower teeth?
Expect a short adjustment period.Your temporary restorations may initially feel different or slightly bulkier than your natural teeth while your lips, tongue, speech, and bite adapt. For some patients, wearing upper and lower temporaries simultaneously makes sense. For others, completing one arch before beginning the other can make the process more comfortable.
This is one reason I don't use exactly the same treatment sequence for every patient.

What if I'm anxious about getting veneers?
Tell us before your appointment.Dental anxiety is common, particularly during longer cosmetic procedures. Understanding exactly what will happen, how long the appointment is expected to take, and what you will experience afterward can already make the process much easier. We can discuss appropriate comfort and anxiety-management options based on your health history and individual needs before treatment. If medication or sedation is clinically appropriate, specific instructions and safety requirements will be discussed with you directly.
What happens when the final ceramic veneers are ready?
First, we carefully remove the temporary restorations. Before permanently bonding the ceramic veneers, we evaluate:

Shape and length

Color and translucency

Fit

Symmetry

Bite and function

How the restorations integrate with your face and smile

Once the restorations have been clinically evaluated and approved by me and you, they are bonded to the teeth using an adhesive protocol. If your treatment involves many upper and lower restorations, final placement may require a longer appointment or more than one visit.
What if my treatment includes a dental bridge?
Some smile rehabilitation cases involve more than veneers. If you have a missing tooth, for example, your treatment plan may also include a dental bridge or another type of restoration.Bridges require additional planning and laboratory work. While the final restoration is being fabricated, a temporary bridge can generally be used to fill the space, protect the treated teeth, and maintain the appearance of your smile. What happens after the veneers are placed? The process doesn't necessarily end the moment your veneers are bonded. At the follow-up appointment, we can evaluate:

Comfort

Speech

Gum response

How your bite feels during normal function

Small refinements can be part of comprehensive cosmetic treatment.
The objective isn't simply to place beautiful veneers. It is to create a smile that looks natural, feels comfortable, and functions correctly.

What do I need to do during the veneer process?
Your responsibilities are relatively simple:

Follow the instructions for caring for temporary restorations.

Keep your teeth and gums clean (flossers, mouthwash and proximal brushes)

Avoid biting hard or sticky foods with your temporaries.

Tell us if your bite feels uncomfortable or uneven.

Contact the clinic if a temporary loosens or fractures.

Attend your placement and follow-up appointments as scheduled.

Most importantly, you don't need to memorize the entire process.
Before each appointment, I explain what we're doing that day, what you can expect afterward, and what comes next.

How long does the entire veneer process take?
For many of my veneer cases, the clinical and laboratory process can be organized within approximately 7–14 days, but this is not a universal timeline. The number of veneers, upper and lower treatment, additional crowns or bridges, laboratory requirements, your oral health, and your individual treatment plan can all affect timing. If you're traveling to Panama specifically for treatment, we should establish your clinical plan before you book your trip around a specific dental timeline.
The most important thing to remember
You should never feel uncomfortable asking your dentist to explain the treatment sequence again.Veneers are a significant decision. You deserve to understand what will happen before your teeth are treated, what is being changed, and what you can realistically expect throughout the process.
My responsibility isn't only to design your smile. It is also to make sure you feel informed, prepared, and supported from planning through final placement.
Every smile is different, which is why your exact treatment sequence can only be determined after evaluating your case.
Considering dental veneers in Panama?
Start with a personalized online evaluation with Dr. Gianna Hanly. We can review your smile, treatment goals, available photographs or X-rays, expected timeline, and whether veneers are appropriate for your case before you plan your treatment in Panama.Book your online evaluation: $65Gianna Hanly Oral implant rehabilitation and Cosmetic Dentistry in Panama. @giannathedentist

Dental Veneers Step by Step: What to Expect at Every Appointment

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Ivoclar Symposium in Bogotá. Beyond the academic program, it was great to reconnect with fellow Panamanian dentists, colleagues I know from Medellín, and new professionals from Bogotá.One of the things I value most about attending these events is seeing how dentistry continues to evolve. We learn from colleagues, challenge the way we work, and discover how new materials and techniques can help us achieve better results for our patients. One message from the symposium particularly resonated with me:
Modern dentistry is becoming more conservative. And I believe that is a very good thing.

Me and a colleague attending Ivoclar Symposium, Bogota 2026

What does conservative dentistry mean?
Conservative dentistry does not mean doing less for a patient. It means doing only what is necessary to restore health, function, and aesthetics while preserving as much healthy natural tooth structure as possible.Decades ago, the limitations of dental materials and techniques often required dentists to remove substantial amounts of tooth structure to place a crown. In some cases, treatment could also involve a root canal and post.Metal-based restorations were also common, requiring opaque materials to conceal the underlying metal and reproduce the appearance of a natural tooth.

Dentistry has changed considerably.

Advances in adhesive dentistry, digital planning, and ceramic materials now allow us, in many cases, to preserve significantly more enamel and dentin while still achieving strong, functional, and highly aesthetic restorations.
Why preserving natural tooth structure matters
Every dental procedure has consequences. Removing healthy tooth structure unnecessarily can begin a restorative cycle in which a tooth may require increasingly complex treatments throughout a patient's lifetime. That is why my approach is to ask:
What is the least invasive treatment that can predictably restore function, health, and aesthetics for this patient?
The same principle applies to dental implants.Implants are an extraordinary treatment when properly indicated, particularly when a tooth cannot reasonably be saved. But an implant should not automatically replace a natural tooth that can still be predictably restored.Whenever possible and clinically appropriate, preserving a healthy or restorable natural tooth remains a priority.
How modern ceramics changed cosmetic dentistry
One of the companies behind this evolution is Ivoclar, which developed IPS e.max, a ceramic system based primarily on lithium disilicate.Materials such as lithium disilicate have become important in modern restorative and cosmetic dentistry because they can combine strength with optical properties that closely reproduce natural enamel. This gives us more possibilities to create veneers and other restorations while following a more conservative approach. But choosing a material is only part of the decision. One of the conversations that came up repeatedly during the symposium was something patients ask me about frequently:
Composite resin veneers or ceramic veneers, which one is better?
The answer is not simply one or the other.
Composite vs. ceramic veneers: how do I decide?
My priority is not choosing the material first. My priority is understanding the patient. Before recommending ceramic or composite resin veneers, I consider factors such as:

How much healthy enamel is available

The patient's bite and occlusion

Bruxism or other habits

Existing restorations

The amount of change required

Tooth position and alignment

Enamel conditions such as hypoplasia or fluorosis

Aesthetic expectations

Long-term maintenance

Age can be a consideration, but it should never be the only factor determining treatment.

When I may consider composite resin veneers
For younger patients, and particularly when the teeth are healthy and the desired changes are relatively conservative, I often consider an additive composite approach first when the case allows it.In some cases, we can add material without removing healthy enamel.Composite resin also offers an important advantage: it can generally be repaired or modified more easily over time. However, it requires maintenance. Depending on the patient, habits, bite, and restoration, composite may need polishing, repair, modification, or replacement as the years pass.
When I may consider ceramic veneers
For patients seeking greater long-term stability in color, shape, and texture, ceramic veneers can be an excellent option when properly indicated.A well-planned, properly bonded ceramic veneer, combined with good oral hygiene, stable occlusion, appropriate habits, and regular dental care, can remain in excellent condition for many years.Long-term clinical studies have reported high survival rates for ceramic veneers, including follow-up periods extending beyond 10 and even 20 years in appropriately selected cases. But longevity is never determined by the ceramic alone. Diagnosis, preparation, bonding, bite, maintenance, and patient habits all matter.
Are composite veneers less sophisticated than ceramic veneers?
Not at all. In fact, direct composite veneers can be extraordinarily technique-sensitive.A ceramic veneer is fabricated outside the mouth by a dental laboratory technician in a controlled environment, where there is time and visibility to refine shape, texture, translucency, and other details.Direct composite veneers are different. The dentist creates the restoration directly in the patient's mouth. That means controlling moisture and saliva while simultaneously evaluating symmetry, proportions, color, shape, and the relationship between multiple teeth.Different composite shades, opacities, and translucencies may need to be layered individually. The material is shaped by hand and then adjusted, finished, and polished to reproduce natural dental anatomy as closely as possible. And all of this happens while the patient is in the dental chair.
That is why I consider direct composite veneers a genuine combination of science, technique, artistry, and clinical judgment.
The material alone does not create a beautiful result. The professional using it matters enormously.
So, are ceramic or composite veneers better?
Neither material is universally better. The better treatment is the one that achieves the patient's goals while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as reasonably possible and providing predictable function over time. For one patient, that may mean composite resin. For another, ceramic veneers. And for someone else, the best recommendation may be orthodontics, whitening, restorative treatment, or no veneers at all. That is why I don't believe cosmetic dentistry should begin by asking:"Which veneers should I get?"A better question is:
"What is the most conservative way to achieve the result I want?"

What should you consider before getting veneers?
Before choosing a cosmetic dental treatment, don't evaluate only the material, price, or appearance of a before-and-after photograph.Consider:

How much natural tooth structure will be preserved?

Why is this particular treatment being recommended?

Is tooth preparation necessary?

How will the treatment affect your bite?

What maintenance will be required?

What happens if the restoration needs repair or replacement in the future?

Who is designing and performing the treatment?

A smile should not be evaluated only by how it looks on the day treatment is completed. We should also think about how much healthy tooth was preserved and how that smile is likely to function and age over time.
My takeaway from the Ivoclar Symposium
The symposium reinforced something that has increasingly shaped the way I practice dentistry:
The best dentistry is not necessarily the dentistry that does the most.It is the dentistry that achieves the best possible result while preserving as much healthy natural tissue as possible.
Technology and materials will continue to evolve. But our responsibility remains the same: diagnose carefully, choose treatments thoughtfully, and intervene only as much as each patient actually needs.
Considering veneers or cosmetic dental treatment?
If you're considering veneers, whether you live in Panama or are planning to travel here, the first step should be understanding what your teeth actually need.During a personalized online evaluation, I can review your case, goals, photographs, and available X-rays and discuss which treatment options may be appropriate before you make a decision.Book your online evaluation: $65Gianna Hanly Oral implant rehabilitation and Cosmetic Dentistry in Panama. @giannathedentist
